Beamsplitters

Beamsplitters are produced by coating fused silica with refractory oxides and rare earth fluorides. As with all dielectrics at non-normal incidence, the performance in the two planes of polarisation is very different. If polarisation is important, please request an individual trace in both orthogonal planes. Beamsplitters are available in standard dichroic sizes and are designed to work at a 45 degree angle of incidence from 400 - 700nm. Numbers indicate transmission/reflectance values. Mirrors consist of metallic coating with protective overcoats designed to reduce the spectral distortion inherent in the metal thin film. Although some polarisation is unavoidable, these mirrors are at the limits of practice in minimising the impact on a randomly polarised signal.

IR Blocking Filters

These accessory blocking filters are used to reduce infrared energy, either in the excitation path (XF83) or in the emission path in front of a CCD Camera (XF85, XF86).

Polarising Filter

This filter is designed to polarise light through the visible region. They are suitable for use in the excitation or emission path of the microscope and are available in a standard size of 50 x 50mm square.

Multiphoton Filters

Multiphoton filters are used in conjunction with two- and three-photon IR laser excitation on fluorophores in confocal imaging. With this technique, researchers can section deeper into labelled specimens with minimal photobleaching and photodamage to cells. The dichroic has extended reflection which covers the tunable range of most IR laser lines used for this technique, including Ti:Sapphire. The laser blocking filter will eliminate background scatter from the exciting laser line. Alternate designs are available to suit specific applications.
